Soda Blasting is similar to Sand Blasting but instead of using sand it uses Baking Soda to remove paint, dirt, coatings and other surface contaminants without damaging the original surface. Soda Blasting unlike Sand Blasting does not cause heat buildup, sparks or abrasion to the original surface.

The Baking Soda used in Soda Blasting is a larger particle than the Baking Soda used in food. The Baking Soda is propelled by compressed water. Baking Soda removes the surfaces contaminates by a release of energy when the particles explode as they come in contact with the surface to be cleaned.

Water is used either as a dust suppressant or as a propellant for some decontamination and paint removal. For surfaces that are softer, such as wood, water reduces the cutting action by as much as 20 to 30 percent.

Since Baking Soda is non-flammable it's an ideal solution to remove petroleum based chemicals and it also breaks down Hydrocarbons which makes it another solution to clean engines, and engine parts where oil and grease are present.

Another advantage of Baking Soda has is that when using it on a Metal surface. Not only does it not create Flash Rust but it prevents rust from building by leaving a protective layer on the metal itself.
